Bunny

Bunny, here, is an AQHA mare being used for lessons at GG. After someone else's lesson last night, they let me hop on. This is the first horse other than Kieran I've ridden in months and probably the first non-draft/draft cross that I've ridden in. Uh. Well over a year.

She felt so tiny! Like I could hook my feet together under her belly. And she moves so different from Kieran, I had a hard time going with her.

Obviously, I should go back to riding more than just my horse. ;)

I generally ride different horses in lessons and you are right, it can be hard finding your way on a new horse. I get comfortable with one, and then have to move to another and have to figure it out all over again. But I guess its good for you to ride different horses :)

Part of it is I don't want to ride horses other than Kieran in lessons, since he's being trained too. Basically. But I probably ought to from time to time (and if GG had a real schoolmaster I probably would, but he got adopted ages ago, LOL).

One thing I could do that would at least get me more ride time on different horses is go back to helping exercise/work the rescue guys. I haven't done that in a while, really, but as far as I know there's no reason I can't. Will have to talk about it with Christine.

Hahahaha, I know this feeling. Think about me, going from Klein to an OTTB. It's not such a shock now that I do it on a regular basis. When I was just riding Klein in Hawaii and then would go take lessons on a light horse I'd tell my instructor to give me atleast 5 mins to get adjusted. She found a BIG draft cross for me to take lessons on eventually so that I'd have something more similar to ride.

One more thing...it's good to ride other horses though. Because it will give you kind of a progress check. That way you can see if Kieran is teaching you any bad habits, etc... Also you can learn from school horses what something is SUPPOSED to feel like so when you teach Kieran.
