Here's a picture of one of the x-rays:
For as horrible as it looks, the nail does not penetrate bone. (It was in the digital cushion)
And a picture of the vet doing the regional limb perfusion this morning:

I spent more time on my photography blog talking about horses I figured it deserved a blog of its own. So here we are!

That is a scary x-ray. The tendon sheath is what I'd be worried about :(
She took a bunch of x-rays (I think seven?) from different angles. I think that one is the most terrifying. Haven't seen the others, though.
Wow. Poor girl. I watched the video too :(
Hope the poor gal is not permanently damaged. Operation? I'm gritting my teeth just looking at the x-ray. Wow!

No operation, Marsha. Just lots of antibiotics and foot soaks. The hole has actually closed up already (but we anticipate it's going to abscess before it heals) but otherwise, she's progressing along really well. I noticed she was actually putting weight on her foot today (as opposed to just the toe like she was early in the week).
She's also very quickly becoming a pocket pony with all the attention she's getting. (and man was she annoyed when the horse in the stall across from her was getting attention and she wasn't, LOL)
